About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has come into existence in the year 1998, since inception of the college twelve batches have passed out.
The Department has 64 dedicated staff members (Teaching 54, Non Teaching 8, and supporting Staff 2), 8 staff members with PhD, 6 staff members are pursuing PhD’s, and the rest of faculty members are with PG Qualifications. Dr. C.Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Head of the Department has published more than 15 papers at various National and International conferences and various peer reviewed journals and applied for patent on ” Polymer Piezoresistive micro cantilever CO sensor and Method of making the same ( IPN No: 2276/MUM/2012)”. Prof K.L. Narayana is an author of 23 Text Books and published more than 44 research papers. Prof. O.V.K Chetty, received two awards at national level for his best research papers. He published more than 155 research papers.
In the academic year 2008-09 M.Tech CAD/CAM was started with an intake of 18 . In the academic year 2014-15 M.Tech Machine Design was started with an intake of 24 and the department is approved by JNTUA Anantapuramu as research centre in the year of 2015-16. The department received ISO 9001 – 2000 certificate and accredited by National Board of- Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi for its excellence in all respects. Sri. G. Naga Shiva Kumar (Roll No. 02781A0325) and Sri. A. Nagarjuna (Roll No. 06781A0347) received Gold Medal (University 1st Rank) in the year 2006 and 2010, from JNTU University by the honourable Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Many of our students are technically competent enough and got placements in the renowned companies.
The department is equipped with fully established labs that are very beneficial to the students to get deep insight and practical knowledge of the subject. The department obtained grant under MODROBS from AICTE for modernization of Heat Transfer lab, Thermal Engineering Lab, Production Technology Lab and CAD/CAM Lab. The CAD/CAM Lab is equipped with CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Robot and FMS Layout and with latest renowned software.
“MEDHA” (Mechanical Engineering Department of Honorary Association), organizes guest lectures, seminars, Add-on soft skills programmes for the students. Training in soft skills under Infosys Campus Connect Programme is also organized for II and III year Students, by the uniting and meticulous effort of both teachers and students of the department. The necessary infrastructure is provided by the management.
