The Department of Mechanical Engineering came into existence in 1998, since the college’s inception, offering B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, with an intake of 60, followed by an increase to 240, and currently with 120 intake. Till now Twenty one batches have passed out. The department has over 11 academic laboratories equipped with some of the state-of-the-art scientific instruments and machineries. The department established 2 skill development laboratories in association with APSSDC – Dassault Systems (3D experience center) APSSDC – ARC (Applied Robotics Control).

The Department have 36 dedicated staff members (Teaching 27, Non-Teaching 7, and supporting Staff 2) 12 staff members with PhD, 1 staff member pursuing Ph.D, and the rest of faculty members are with PG Qualifications. In the academic year 2008-09 M. The department’s students learn to solve society’s challenges using innovative thinking and technology. Department students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities. In order to give students exclusive access to the most important knowledge transfer sessions, the department regularly holds symposiums, technical paper contests at the national level, guest lectures by experts, and the technical association Mechanical Engineering Department Honorary Association (MEDHA) to improve organising skills and uncover hidden talents.

The department runs specific forums like Institution of Engineers (INDIA) (IEI), the Indian Institution of Production Engineers (IIPE), SVCET’s student section to improve students’ technical knowledge and skills. Through their teaching and diversified research initiatives, department faculty drive these efforts. The department has grown to meet technology development difficulties while keeping a strong foundation in mechanical engineering. Faculty members are collaborated with National and International researchers to enhance their knowledge and technology.
