M.Tech, Ph.D
The Department of Mechanical Engineering came into existence in 1998, since the college’s inception, offering B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, with an intake of 60, followed by an increase to 240, and currently with 60 intake. Till now Twenty-one batches have passed out. The department has over 11 academic laboratories equipped with some of the state-of-the-art scientific instruments and machineries. The department established 2 skill development laboratories in association with APSSDC – Dassault Systems (3D experience center) APSSDC – ARC (Applied Robotics Control).
The Department have 36 dedicated staff members (Teaching 27, Non-Teaching 7, and supporting Staff 2) 10 staff members with PhD, 1 staff member pursuing Ph. D, and the rest of faculty members are with PG Qualifications. In the academic year 2008-09 M. Tech CAD/CAM was started with an intake of 18, and JNTUA Ananthapuramu approved the department as a research center in the year of 2015-16. The department received ISO 9001 – 2000 certificate and was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) New Delhi, under-1 up to 30.6.2025, for its excellence in all respects.

Workshop Practice Lab is equipped with fabricate carpentry components and pipe connections including plumbing works, use welding equipment to join the structures, carry out the basic machining operations and make the models using sheet metal works, illustrate on centrifugal pump, air conditioner, operations of smithy, foundry and fittings. This Lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the Lab is equipped with sufficient number of components well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiment, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. Upon the completion of course students get the ability to fabricate carpentry components and pipe connections including plumbing works and ability to use welding equipment to join the structures. Engineering practice laboratory is used for first and second semester students.
2. Production Technology Laboratory
Manufacturing Technology Laboratory is used to study and practice the various operations that can be performed in spot welding, injection moulding and universal testing machine for sand to do experiment for acquiring the practical knowledge, required in the core industries. This Lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the Lab is equipped with sufficient number of components, well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiments, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. After the completion of course, students are able to demonstrate and fabricate different types of components, using in the machine tools. Manufacturing Technology laboratory is used for second year, third semester students.
3. Metallurgy laboratory
Metallurgy Laboratory is a domain of materials science and engineering that studies the physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements, their inter-metallic compounds, and their mixtures, which are called alloys. Metallurgy encompasses both the science and the technology of metals; that is, the way in which science is applied to the production of metals, and the engineering of metal components used in products for both consumers and manufacturers. This Lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the Lab is equipped with sufficient number of components, well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiments, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. After the completion of course, students are able to identify the physical and chemical property of the metals.
4. Metrology Laboratory
Metrology and Measurement Laboratory is familiar with different measurement, equipment’s and use of this industry for quality inspection. This lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the lab is equipped with sufficient number of components well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiment, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. Upon the Completion of Course, students are able to handle different measurement tools and perform measurements in quality impulsion. Metrology and Measurement Laboratory is used for third year, fifth semester student.
5. Thermal Engineering Lab
Thermal Engineering Laboratory is used to study the value timing diagram and performance of IC Engines, characteristics of fuels/lubricates is used in IC Engine and the performance of steam IC Engine. This lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the lab is equipped with sufficient number of components well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiment, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. Upon the completion of course, students are able to conduct experiment on IC engine to study the characteristic and performance of IC engines. This laboratory is to study the heat transfer phenomena predicts the relevant co-efficient using implementation and to study the performance of refrigeration cycle / components. This Lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the Lab is equipped with sufficient number of components well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiment, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. Upon the Completion of Course, students are able to demonstrate the fundamentals of heat and predict the coefficient, used in that transfer application and also design refrigeration cycle. Thermal Engineering Laboratory is used for third year fifth semester student.
6. Dynamics of Machinery Laboratory
Dynamics Laboratory is used to supplement the principles learnt in kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery and to understand, how certain measuring devices are used for dynamic testing. This lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the lab is equipped with sufficient number of components well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiment, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. Upon the Completion of Course, students are able to demonstrate the principles of Kinematics and Dynamics of Machinery and able to use the measuring devices for Dynamics Testing. Dynamics Laboratory is used for third year, fifth semester students.
7. Machine Tools Laboratory
Manufacturing Technology Laboratory is used to study and acquire knowledge on various operations that can be performed in Lathe, Shaper, Drilling and Milling Machines etc. and to do experiment for acquiring the practical knowledge, required in the core industries. This lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the lab is equipped with sufficient number of components well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiments, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. Upon the Completion of Course, Students are able to use different machine tools for manufacturing gears, ability to use different machine tools for finishing operations and ability to manufacture, tools using cutter grinder and to develop CNC part
8. Instrumentation and control system Laboratory

Instrumentation and control system Laboratory is used for third year, sixth semester student.
9. Heat Transfer Lab
Heat Transfer laboratory provides fundamental and industrial knowledge about modes of heat transfer, like conduction, convection and radiation, and their application. Heat Transfer Lab consists of the following equipment. Pin Fin Apparatus: This setup is designed to study the heat transfer in a pin fin. It consists of cylindrical fin fitted to the base in rectangular duct. A blower is provided on one side of duct to conduct experiments under forced convection heat transfer mode. Five thermocouples are embedded along the axis of the cylindrical fin at five different locations and one thermocouple placed in the air stream at the exit of the test section to measure the outlet air temperature. Digital Temperature Indicator is provided to read temperatures distribution along the fin. Test pipe is connected to the delivery side of the blower along with the Orifice to measure flow of air through the pipe. A heater heats one end of fin and heat flows to another end. Heat input to the heater is given through varies. Students will be expected to develop the following skills/understanding upon the successful completion of this experiment.
10. Fuels Laboratory
In Fuels Laboratory, different fuel testing equipment are available. From this, students can measure viscosity, flash point, fire point, pour point, cloud point, calorific value, sulphated ash content, carbon residue, etc. of any fuel. The esterification plant which is available in fuels lab is highly useful for the students do their projects in alternate fuels. This Lab is well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the Lab is equipped with sufficient number of components well enough to accommodate 5 students per group for doing the experiment, so that students get the best exposure and confidence. Upon the Completion of Course, students are able to demonstrate the fundamentals of fuel laboratory for various fuels.
11. CAD / CAM Laboratory
CAD/CAM Laboratory is used to gain practical experience in handling 2D drafting and 3D modelling software systems, to study the features of CNC Machine Tool, to expose students to modern control systems (Fanuc, Siemens etc.,) and to know the application of various CNC machines like CNC lathe, CNC Vertical Machining centre, CNC, This Lab is equipped with well designed to provide adequate space and convenience to the students and the lab is equipped with sufficient number of components well enough to accommodate students doing the experiment individually, so that, students get the best exposure and confidence. Upon the completion of course, students are able to develop 2D and 3D models, using modeling software’s, ability to understand the CNC control in modern manufacturing system, and ability to prepare CNC part programming and perform manufacturing. CAD/CAM laboratory is used for third year, sixth semester and forth year, seventh semester student.
